Dakar, Jan 24 (APS) – Gabonese voters will go to the polls on April 12 to elect a new President of the Republic, report several media.

This presidential election will mark the end of the military transition led by General Oligui Ngema, who came to power in favor of a coup against the Ali Bongo regime on August 30, 2023.

” Electoral college is summoned on Saturday April 12, 2025 (…). The ballot will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., in accordance with the regulations in force ” announced Séraphin Akuré Davain, spokesperson for the transitional government at the end of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.

A new electoral code was adopted Monday by the transitional parliament, thus authorizing the magistrates and soldiers to present themselves in the elections under certain conditions.
