A 76-year-old woman was seriously burned this Friday, January 24 in a house fire in Lessay (Manche) caused by a chimney fire.

A fire in a house in Lessay (former town of Angoville-sur-Ay) in Manche left one seriously injured, BFM Normandie learned from the department's firefighters.

A fire first broke out in the chimney before spreading to the rest of the house, around 7 p.m. this Friday, January 24.

A 76-year-old woman was seriously burned by the flames. She was airlifted to the university hospital center (CHU) in .

Nearly 22 firefighters were engaged aboard ten vehicles. They managed to preserve the interior of the house. These staff came from seven emergency centers scattered all around the commune of Coutençais: Barneville, Carentan, Coutances, La Haye, Lessay, Pirou and Saint-Sauveur le Vicomte.
