Dakar, Jan 24 (APS)-Senegal will host, Monday and Tuesday, the eighth edition of the Conference of Presidents of the Members of the French-speaking Network of Media Regulators (Refram), we learned from an official source.
On this occasion, the National Audiovisual Regulatory Council (CNRA) will ensure the presidency of this organization for a two -year term.
This meeting, which will be held in Dakar, aims to “contribute on the one hand, to the implementation of an adapted regulation in the face of digital actors, on the other hand, to the expression of cultural diversity And to the right remuneration for creation ” said a press release received on Friday at the APS.
The text specifies that this event will be an opportunity for French -speaking regulators of Media, to discuss the institutional and technical means to circumscribe a phenomenon that threatens security and social cohesion in different parts of the world.
This phenomenon which is referred to in social networks, which “can be a source of dramas with immeasurable consequences ”, we read in the text.
” Social networks reinforced by digital have made regulation more difficult, while they give resources to manipulation and disinformation ”, adds the same source.
-According to the text, violent and hatred content propagate rhythms whose traditional means are no longer enough to limit the perverse effects among populations very permeable to the Deep Fake.
The eighth edition of the Conference of Presidents of the Refram media regulation bodies will thus be an opportunity to reflect on “the implementation of common strategies and mechanisms, to cope (…) in continuity of the work undertaken ‘ ‘Since the last edition held in Paris.
“In Dakar, the regulatory authorities will tackle, among other points, the session relating to the fight against hacking, experiences in the regulation of digital platforms and mechanisms and tools for effective regulation of said platforms ”, said the press release .
The French -speaking network of media regulators (REFRAM) was created in Ouagadougou on July 1, 2007 and includes 31 member institutions.
