The 19th day opened this Friday with a parity score between AJA and ASSE (1-1).
Tasteless meeting against a backdrop of maintenance between Auxerre and Saint-Etienne. The two teams promoted to Ligue 1 for this new season faced each other for the second time in the championship. In the first leg, the visitors won thanks to a hat-trick from Zuriko Davitashvili. This time at Abbé Deschamps, the Greens in gold color for this match generally dominated by keeping the ball without ever doing anything with it. Long, bland first minutes from two uninspired teams were somewhat warmed up by the first real opportunity of the match. Sinayoko found in depth saw his shot repelled by the left post of Gauthier Larsonneur (21st).
Three minutes later, the AJA strongman struck again. Well found in his left lane, with one dribble, Hamed Junior Traoré managed to land full axis to follow up with an unstoppable curling shot from the right. Eighth goal of the season for the player on loan from Naples, he is the only scorer for Auxerre in 2025. Against the run of play and with great success, Lucas Stassin managed to equalize just before the break after an incredible billiard shot in the area (45th). Despite two good saves, Donovan Léon could only lose to the Greens' first shots on target.
An empty second half
In the second act nothing changed. With the ball at their feet, the Greens struggled to be dangerous and were almost surprised. Larsonneur had to make a classy save on a balanced recovery from Joly (51st). 10 minutes of highlights for the locals who ultimately gave nothing concrete. Christophe Pélissier's men almost got punished. Mensah must have made an incredible save. Boakye, perfectly found by Stassin in depth, made the right move to get rid of Donovan Léon and push the ball into the goal, without counting on the express return of the Auxerre piston (59th). Then nothing more, the changes brought nothing, apart from a few timid attempts from Auxerre (75th, 88th).
-Final score 1-1, a meeting which will not go down in history and a result which does not suit many people even if Auxerre closed the game to maintain this point during the last 15 minutes. Saint-Étienne is temporarily no longer in the play-off and 14th but with 1 point ahead of Rennes and Nantes. Auxerre remains 11th with 23 points and continues an eighth match in all competitions without a victory.
