A 30-year-old man was arrested on the evening of Tuesday January 21, 2025 has Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique) for threatening comments and behavior towards a passerby then the police officers who intervened on the spot.
It was after 7 p.m. and night had fallen when a lady returning from a walk with her dog was attacked by this individual in the parking lot of her building, rue des Fauvettes, in the Villès-Martin district.
He gave chase as she took refuge in the hall, closing the secure door behind her.
“I’m going to beat you up,” he said, banging on the window.
The six police officers who arrived to the rescue in turn suffered the wrath of the thirty-year-old: insults, then threats: “I’m going to slit your throat, you don’t know me.”
Throat-cutting gesture against the police
According to their statements, he later walked the talk by miming a throat slitting.
The police used gas to control him, but the man fled, even bursting into the Paul Lièvre gymnasium where there were children.
Finally arrested, not without difficulty, the thirty-year-old was presented in immediate appearance Friday January 24, 2025 before the Saint-Nazaire criminal court.
In a stream of disorderly words, the defendant contested the majority of the accusations, acknowledging “bad words”, in anger, against the police officers.
“I came to pick up things from a friend and they stopped me from entering the building. »
He was also prosecuted for other death threats, also denied, against the manager of a tobacconist located on Boulevard Mermoz.
-A tobacconist also threatened
For two months at the end of 2024, he is accused of having gone to the front of the business on several occasions to insult the tobacconist: “I am going to shoot you, rob you, burn your business, etc..” »
For no particular reason, he wasn't even a customer.
In Saint-Nazaire for a few weeks, with the aim of finding a job in the navy, he is originally from the Paris region where he is prohibited from staying after several convictions for violence and threats against members of his family, his mother in the first place.
His criminal record contains 16 entries.
“A worrying legal and criminal record,” notes prosecutor Jean-François Héry.
“I'm going to cut a cop's throat. He could not fail to be aware of the extreme seriousness of his words. »
Psychiatric disorders?
Me Mahaut Vançon for the defense notes the apparent instability of his client who, apart from some visits to psychiatric units during periods of detention, does not seem to be followed.
“I hear that the psychiatrist who assessed him did not notice any serious problems, but you just have to hear him speak to have doubts. At times, we have the impression that he is no longer in control of himself. »
The defendant was sentenced to 30 months in prison, with continued detention.
He will be banned from staying in Loire-Atlantique for three years.
