It is the Haut-Savoie MEDEF which is sounding the alarm.
The employers' movement in Haute-Savoie denounces a tax pressure which has increased significantly in recent years.
A brake on business competitiveness
“For several years, local tax pressure has continued to grow, thus penalizing the competitiveness of our companies already faced with a fragile economic situation,” writes the employers’ movement in a press release.
Nearly 10% increase between 2022 and 2023
-In Haute-Savoie the tax burden increased by 9.8% for companies between 2022 and 2023. MEDEF takes the example of the mobility payment which has increased by more than 15% in two years. It recognizes the importance of the development of public transport, “but this development must not be financed by a tax on businesses which increases the already very high cost of labor in France” according to the union which calls for dialogue with local authorities.
“Given the difficult economic situation that our companies are facing, the highest rate of compulsory levy on companies in the world, the collapse of our competitiveness in the face of our international competitors, companies can no longer support these increases which weaken
the economy of the entire territory” writes MEDEF Haut-Savoie.
