This summer, the tourist sites of Ariège received more than 300,000 entries. Here are the ones that attracted tourists the most.
304 000. This is the number of tickets that were sold during the summer season in Ariège, that is to say from June to September. An activity deemed satisfactory for half of the visit site managers (57%), as Ariège Pyrénées Tourisme specifies in its report on tourism figures for summer 2024.
Which sites attracted tourists the most this summer?
Certain places in the department have obviously attracted vacationers more. At the top, we find the Foix castle with 60,784 entries. This is a little less than its average over the last five years (65,383 entries). But, as a reminder, the site, which is undergoing work, only reopened on July 6. No entries were therefore recorded for the month of June.
The underground river of Labouiche comes in second place. The site recorded 52,262 entries, an increase of 58% compared to its average over the last five years. Then comes the prehistoric park of Tarascon-sur-Ariège (34,241 visits), the cave and the Mas d'Azil museum (27,707) and the House of Wolves in Orlu (25 094).
