The Director General of the Islamic Center for Trade Development, Latifa Elbouabdellaoui, called on Thursday in Rabat to strengthen commercial cooperation between member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and to promote investments in key sectors.

“This effort reflects efforts to encourage intra-tradeOrganization of Islamic Cooperation (OCI) and support inclusive economic growth within the organization,” noted Ms. Elbouabdellaoui who was speaking at the 23rd Meeting of Economic Advisors to the Embassies of OIC Member States accredited to the Kingdom of Morocco.

Thus, she highlighted the importance of strengthened regional economic integration, stressing that this type of partnership opens up promising opportunities for the expansion of markets and the diversification of value chains.

In this sense, the DG reiterated its institution’s commitment to working closely with Member States and international partners to address global economic challenges, expressing its conviction that this meeting represents an important step towards sustainable economic cooperation and beneficial for all the countries concerned.

And to note that several major initiatives will be launched by the Islamic Center for Trade Development (ICDT) in 2025, in collaboration with international and regional partners, covering various sectors, including health, food security, support for women entrepreneurs and young people, as well as the digitalization of commercial documents.

“These efforts aim to strengthen trade and investments among OIC member countries and consolidate their integration into the global economy”she stressed.

For his part, the director of international trade relations at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Youssef Zahoui, noted that this event is part of an ambitious dynamic aimed at strengthening Morocco’s position as a regional hub for investments and international trade.

“Morocco is fully committed to supporting initiatives aimed at boosting trade within the OIC,” affirmed Youssef Zahoui, highlighting the strategic role that the Kingdom plays in facilitating economic partnerships and supporting regional actors in their development projects.

Thus, he emphasized the importance of collective mobilization to transform economic opportunities into concrete results, while strengthening institutional capacities and promoting innovative solutions adapted to current challenges.

Organized annually by the ICDT, this meeting aims to discuss with economic advisors at the Embassies of OIC countries in Rabat on the activities and projects of the Center during 2025 and to propose joint activities for the coming year.

Marked by the presence of representatives of various Moroccan ministries, international and regional organizations active in the economic and commercial fields, and Moroccan institutions concerned by the subjects discussed, this meeting was hosted by CIDC executives, as well as the partners and representatives of the countries organizing the ICDT Fairs and Exhibitions in 2025 (Chad, Senegal, Uganda, Benin, Cameroon and Comoros).
