At 3:06 p.m. Thursday January 23, emergency services were alerted to intervene on a suspected gas leak near number 60 rue du Mont St-Michel in L'Aigle (Orne).
After several calls from people reporting a strong smell of gas, 14 firefighters from the L'Aigle emergency center as well as a team of GRdF immediately went to the site to carry out investigations into the origin of these potentially dangerous fumes.
Diversions in place
Since then, operations have been underway to repair this incident. On site, very little information leaked about this event, but the area was cordoned off by the gendarmerie and the municipal police, on one side and the other. Currently, 35 homes are without electricity, cut off for safety reasons, and 19 people are confined.
-To exit L'Aigle towards Rai and La Croix Lamirault, a diversion is in place towards rue du Paradis and rue Mérouvel for example.
