Every year, there is a highly anticipated ranking: that of the 10 French-speaking authors who have attracted the most readers over the previous 12 months. Le Figaroin collaboration with the research firm GfK, has just made public the top 10 best-selling French-language novelists of 2024. So, who was the best performer? Are there any surprises?

An author in first place in the top 10
For the second year in a row, it is the novelist Melissa Da Costa who tops the ranking, with 1,162,730 copies sold in 2024. The author, who has published 7 books since the start of her literary career in 2019, in notably released one in 2024 Standpublished by Albin Michel. But Melissa Da Costa was also able to count on the sale of her previous novels, such as The star maker or Women at the end of the world. His first success, All the blue of the sky, should continue to sell very well in 2025 since it is adapted into a TV film and will be broadcast very soon on TF1, with Camille Lou and Hugo Becker in the main roles.
Two well-known names to complete the top 3
Guillaume Musso occupies second place in the ranking: the author is once again surpassed by Mélissa Da Costa, despite the publication in 2024 of his novel someone else published by Calmann-Levy. He can still rejoice since he has sold out according to the ranking Le Figaro/GfK 1,104,096 copies of his books. In third position in the ranking, we find Morgane Moncomble, who also sold her books very well in 2023. The queen of New Romance, whose literary saga began with the book An autumn to forgive you (Éditions Hugo Publishing) continued to perform in 2024, selling 984,144 copies.
-In the rest of the ranking, we find Virginie Grimaldi in 4th place (946,787 sales), Joël Dicker (who is preparing to release a new book) in 5th (more than 863,000 books sold) or even the master of the thriller Franck Thilliez (689,112 sales), in 6th place.
