The day after its defeat against PSG in the Champions League, Manchester City formalized the arrival of Egyptian international striker Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Manchester City will finally be able to give Erling Haaland a break. The English club announced, Thursday January 23, the signing of Egyptian international striker Omar Marmoush (25 years old). His contract runs until 2029. The transfer, the agreement between clubs of which was revealed by RMC Sport, should bring in around 70 million euros to Eintracht Frankfurt. The sum could be partly reinvested by the German team on Elye Wahi, the French striker from Olympique de Marseille.
Omar Marmoush becomes the first Egyptian player to join the Mancunian squad, which has sorely lacked a replacement solution at center forward since the departure of Julian Alvarez to Atlético de Madrid. Except in the FA Cup and League Cup, the English national cups, Erling Haaland has started all of Manchester City's matches since the start of the season.
Already three winter recruits for Manchester City
With 20 goals and 14 assists in 26 matches in all competitions with Eintracht Frankfurt, Omar Marmoush had a remarkable first part of the season. “He has all the attributes of a top striker,” commented Txiki Begiristain, Manchester City director of football. “He has exceptional speed and sensitivity, and he is exceptional in front of goal. He can also play in several positions , which is a very valuable asset.” Indeed, Mohamed Salah's teammate in the selection is also capable of playing as a second striker and left winger, or even right winger.
-Omar Marmoush is Manchester City's third winter recruit, determined to strengthen this winter after the crisis experienced in the fall. The team has already strengthened in defense with the arrivals of youngsters Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis. According to the foreign press, the English champion would also like to enlist the services of Italian full-back Andrea Cambiaso (Juventus).
In any case, none of these recruits will be able to play in the decisive Champions League match against Club Bruges, scheduled for January 29.
