The government, through the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, is making great efforts to fight measles, said Thursday in Rabat, the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas.
A vigilance and monitoring system has been put in place at the level of the Public Health Emergency Operations Center (COUSP) and 12 provincial health emergency centers, he indicated during a briefing. press at the end of the weekly meeting of the Governing Council.
In response to questions from journalists, the government spokesperson recalled that a national vaccination catch-up campaign against measles and other diseases was also launched on October 28, 2024, adding that it was decided to extend this national campaign.
He further indicated that a vast communication campaign had also been launched, targeting in particular the categories concerned by vaccination, including parents and guardians of students, teachers, health professionals and public authorities. .
-The minister also emphasized coordination with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports and the Ministry of the Interior with a view to verifying the vaccination process for children under 18 years of age and taking responsible for vaccinating people who have been in contact with patients.
In this sense, he continued, the government calls on all citizens, in particular parents, civil society associations and businesses and various actors, to intensify their efforts and actively participate in the vaccination campaign against measles which is still ongoing in Morocco.
He also called on all forces, actors and media, to confront false information and rumors that question the importance of vaccines.
