Last week, USM ended its black streak with a victory against Valence-Romans. A valuable success which will have to be used for this trip to the Landes facing Mont-de-Marsan. An important match for Kyllian Ringuet and his teammates who want to maintain themselves as quickly as possible and free themselves from a weight…
Last Friday you returned to victory against VRDR, how did you feel about the group this week? Relieved ?
Yes, winning back feels a lot of good. The atmosphere was a little more peaceful. It wasn't necessarily a successful match, it's not really what we wanted to do… But the result is there, we won. We may have won lousy but whatever, it's the result that counts. I think that against Valence-Romans we especially lacked confidence. This was seen with a lack of realism in the opposing 22 meters.
Putting an end to this series of defeats is obviously very important for the group?
We never put our heads to the bottom of the bucket but it’s true that after five defeats, we always have the memory of last season in mind. Putting an end to all this feels good, especially to Sapiac.
How important will this match against Mont-de-Marsan be for USM?
Already, I think it's important to try to follow up with another victory. Secondly, we must be certain of being kept in Pro D2 as quickly as possible. If we look, the Montois are not that far in the rankings. For the moment, we are still looking behind but we want to free ourselves from this pressure of maintaining. We no longer want to tell ourselves that we can go down and I think we need to take this pressure off ourselves as quickly as possible to stop playing “little arm” and look above. When our maintenance is assured, we will be able to free ourselves.
The conquest sector has caused some problems lately, especially on the sidelines…
-We've been struggling for a while, particularly in the touchline sector, whereas at the start of the season we were doing pretty well. We continued to work. We feel that there is an evolution and we should get closer to the standards at the start of the season quickly.
How to make the difference against Stade Monois?
We must impose our game. Be conquering whether in scrum or touchline. A big defense too. We have conceded far too many points since the start of the season. All this while focusing on our game because if we watch them play, we won't leave Mont-de-Marsan with any points. It's up to us to do the job.
Last week, the Montois did not play (match against Aurillac postponed), it's a double-edged sword…
Yes… Lack of rhythm or freshness… It's true that it's going to be a double-edged sword but ultimately it will be up to us to use our match against VRDR. You have to keep the pace. After a week's break, I don't think it changes much.
Personally, how do you feel about the start of the season?
GOOD ! Overall, I still want to progress on several points to have even more activity on the field. I want to give more to the group to really make my contribution.
