Le head coach Colin Muller has made its selection for the third tournament of the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour in Liberec (CZE). A newbie is among the 22 players called up. The 16-year-old defender Laure Mériguetwho plays in U17-Elit at Geneva Future Hockey with the boys, was called up to the national A team for the first time. “Laure showed a very good performance during the U18 Worlds in Finland. Very mature despite her young age, she has a good physical presence on the ice and is convincing especially in defense. We can’t wait to see how she does at this level.”declares head coach Colin Muller, referring to the appointment of Laure Mériguet.
The EV Zug player Elena Gaberell19, makes his return to the Swiss selection, after having worn the colors four times during the 2022/23 season. Absent from the December gathering due to an injury, Alina Müller also returns to the team. A very experienced attacker with 154 international matches under her belt who currently plays in Boston in the PWHL, the North American professional women’s league, Müller will play her first match for the national team since the 2024 WC.
“We are looking forward to playing this WEHT tournament in Czechia. We want to take advantage of this to continue our development and gain valuable information as to the players likely to be selected for the Worlds in April.explains Colin Muller.
With Sweden participating at the same time in qualification for the 2026 Olympic Games, only the Czech Republic and Finland will be represented in addition to Switzerland during this tournament from February 6 to 8.
