Students from a commune in Deux-Sèvres release a music video against school bullying

In Bressuire, children from different schools are directors and actors in an exceptional project. According to the newspaper The Western Mailthe children who sit on the municipal children's council of Bressuire had the brilliant idea of release a clip on school bullyinga sensitive subject which affects 1 in ten children each year in France, or more than 700,000 children. Accompanied by Hélène Brosseau, Municipal Councilor, in charge of the Municipal Children's Council as well as two associations, the students expressed through a slam what harassment is for them and how to put an end to it.

Since October 2023, the elected children have been working on this project, chosen by them. “ Each child had to do 3-4 lines each and we grouped everything together. This created the slam that we find in the video », explains Hélène Brosseau.

The text is not imaginary but comes from the children's experience. “ It started from things that they experienced personally or things that they saw since they are also witnesses to that. The writing really comes from them. All the words come from children and it weighs even more. We just coordinated. » adds the advisor.

After writing the slam, then comes the video clip which took them dozens of hours and a day and a half to film. The children film their experiences in different places where school bullying takes shape : classroom, school bus, toilets, playground, school canteen and the corridor. In this two-minute video, children stage physical violence. Online since January 13, 2025, this clip has exceeded 700 views. For the municipal councilor, the video is there to help children take action, as victims but also witnesses. “ We have to talk about it, we have to go and denounce, we must help those who are victims of harassment. I hope that it will have a very positive effect in the schools of Bressuire and I hope that it will be a support used in all educational establishments. »

If Bois d’Anne elementary school was chosen by the children for “ his heart and his soulwhich does not exist in other establishments », the actors play a vital role. “ I think it speaks to them more when it's something that was filmed in a school they know, a place they know, there are children who potentially know the actors, there is the work of the teachers who will take this clip and discuss it. »
