In Evron (Mayenne), around forty cattle, bulls, cows, pregnant cows and offspring, were exhibited at the Grands Prés fairground where they are held every year the Meat Festival of September and the Christmas Competition.
Coming from Upper and Lower Normandy, Brittany, Pays de la Loire, the animals were presented to a jury for the selections of Blondes d’Aquitaine who will be competing at Agricultural show of Paris which will be held at Porte de Versailles, from February 22 to March 2, 2025.
A careful selection for the next Agricultural Show
Four sites in France were selected for the selections. Jean-Yves Renardpresident of the Meat Festival, commented: “In agreement with the town hall, with the appropriate equipment for this type of selection whatever the weather conditions, we could only respond favorably to this request. »
Gérard Barbier operates the La Cures farm in Marcillé-la-Ville and chairs the departmental association of the Blondes d'Aquitaine breed. He elaborates: “It’s a first in Évron.
-Two Mayenne breeders
The three members of the jury, Peter Thissenbreeder in the Gers, Élodie Haure and Clément Taeys, technicians from the Blondes d'Aquitaines breeding organization, reviewed the animals, scrutinized them on parade, filmed them, and completed the forms providing their comments. A meeting will make it possible to define the selected ones on the four French sites. »
Two Mayenne breeders were present. Gérard Barbier presented a cow followed, with Boris Mézange from Bazouge-des-Alleux, presenting a female. The breeders present were able to discuss their breeding methods, market opportunities, and collect addresses in order to collaborate as closely as possible in the future.
