Sorting your books to declutter your home: a challenge in Nord-Mayenne

To help those who wish to sort at home, West shares every week the challenge launched by the CPIE (permanent center for environmental initiatives) Mayenne and Mayenne community. The idea is to declutter your interior little by little, focusing each week on a part of the house or a type of object.

This week, head to the library or the boxes in the attic to sort novels, school textbooks, comics, cookbooks or travel books… “If you have a lot of books, dedicate yourself to one type of book to start,” advises the CPIE.

To sort and know if a book is worth keeping, several questions can be asked: “Will I read it or reread it one day? Why keep it? Does this bring me anything? »

Throw away, sell or give away

Once sorted, books that are too damaged should be thrown away. Made up of paper, they must be deposited “in the yellow containers dedicated to sorting packaging and paper” to be recycled.

For those still in good condition, the CPIE shares several ideas: “You can keep some to give to your loved ones, donate them to local organizations, sell them online or in store. » It will also be possible to exchange them or sell them at a low price during the book swap scheduled for Saturday 1is February, in -Daniel.

And to avoid buying new books, why not borrow them from the library?

Saturday 1is February 2025, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., book swap open to all at the Fontaine-Daniel grocery store, in Saint-Georges-Buttavent. Free. Registration on 02 43 03 79 62 or via : [email protected]
