Feminist demonstration against the far right

Macron on the march with the far right: anti-fascist feminist response !

At the call of the Feminist Coordination, mobilizations against the extreme right and its ideas will take place throughout France on January 25 and 26, 2025. We are part of this collective momentum and are organizing a demonstration to lay the foundations for a unitary response to the process of fascistization of society. The policy of the new government, just as reactionary as the previous one, and of the far right, is taking advantage of the regime's unprecedented crisis. An extreme right which is structured on an international scale, and is gaining strength, notably with the victory of Donald Trump in the United States, inaugurated on January 20.

The dissolution of the National Assembly by Macron last June, when the RN achieved a historic breakthrough after the European elections, accelerated the polarization of society and made the possibility of a takeover of power by the far right more tangible every day. With 123 deputies, the parliamentary far-right is stronger than ever. It exerts pressure on the government which reaches out to it, and imposes political debates. All opportunities are good to serve its racist, Islamophobic, supremacist and anti-migrant agenda, from the exploitation of feminicides to the situation in Mayotte.

Thus, for years, different governments have passed racist and Islamophobic laws, stigmatizing Muslims and migrants. By establishing a permanent police state, by repressing any expression of support for the Palestinian cause, by emptying the democratic space of all substance, Macron has created fertile ground for the arrival of a reactionary and authoritarian power.

By organizing social destruction, by making the rich ever richer and the poor ever poorer, by pushing workers to die at work or in poverty without unemployment insurance, it nourishes this breeding ground. For example, the social damage committed against sex workers with the 2016 law on the penalization of clients and police harassment in the workplace generates growing precariousness. Social poverty and authoritarianism produce withdrawal into oneself, competition with everyone and the search for reactionary solutions. We defend a project for an anti-capitalist society which guarantees dignified living conditions for everyone.

Macron, by appointing several ministers close to the Manif pour tous in his different governments, by letting Blanquer and Vidal do the “ hunt for Wokism and Islamoleftism “, by speaking of a “fad” to designate the demands around the change of civil status for trans people, knowingly contributed to demonizing people LGBTQ and feminists. This demonization is one of the battlehorses of the far-right globally and is responsible for an increase in violence.

At the same time, the far right is preparing its takeover by waging a war for cultural hegemony. Bolloré, Arnaut, Saadé: they control media empires which allow their nauseating and reactionary, Islamophobic, racist, anti-migrant, transphobic, homophobic, putophobic and misogynistic ideas to be propagated all day long. In doing so, big bosses impose debates, create panic and snatch victories. This is evidenced by the adoption by the Senate last May of the law prohibiting transitions for minors, which follows years of rotting discourse and the development of transphobic hatred, organized on TV sets and in conservative editorials. This is leading to an increase in attacks and assassinations against our trans and racialized residents and a trivialization of our deaths and violence against us.

No fascists in our demonstrations, no neighborhood for fascists.

The far right is in the majority within the police, which serves its interests with the help of LR and macronia. Activists in working-class neighborhoods have been sounding the alarm for years in the face of police violence and murders. Last October, Bruno Retailleau organized the protection of Marguerite Stern and Dora Moutot, transphobic ex-feminist activists “ spoils of war » from the far right, at their request. On November 23, 2024, the Paris police headquarters authorized the participation of Némésis and We will live in the demonstration against sexist and sexual violence. Thus, the Ministry of the Interior has authorized itself to manage our spaces of struggle and to send a signal to the far right that from now on the political recovery of social mobilizations will take place with the protection of the State. We cannot tolerate their presence in our feminist struggle, and must never allow such an event to happen again. The survival of all social, political and trade union movements is at stake.

January 26, feminist mobilization to beat the far right

Faced with the deepening crisis of the 5^e Republic, we cannot wait for the next elections. To build an alternative capable of achieving retirement at 60 without annuity conditions, salary increases indexed to inflation, reform of the RSAthe law penalizing customers or the immigration law, or even massive resources for public services, this must involve building responses from below.

The far-right seeks to ensure a seizure of power in a more or less short time: we must urgently do everything to loosen the grip and reverse the situation, by mobilizing in our places of life, our places of work and of studies, our unions and our collectives.

Unitary and broad responses, which make it possible to mobilize all fronts of struggle, demonstrate our capacity to walk together, to build together, to project ourselves towards a desirable future, together ! This is why we are calling for a demonstration on January 26 in Paris at 2 p.m. at Place de la République.
