UA profound and subtle change is taking place in the French psyche. After decades of struggling with its post-war decline, France finally appears to be making peace with its new global status. This evolution is manifested in multiple areas: the gradual abandonment of resistance to Anglicisms, the acceptance of a role as a middle power, although still influential in Europe and French-speaking Africa. This transformation, far from weakening the country, paradoxically allows it to better exploit its real assets.
France also retains unique specificities: an autonomous and ambitious intellectual life, powerful public media capable of maintaining substantive debates, and an elite which, despite its faults, remains attached to structural republican values…
