OCTAVE & ANATOLE PLAYS ARMSTRONG – Le Bal Blomet – Paris, 75015
Dalida, a timeless icon of French song, continues to captivate generations with her unforgettable melodies, her charisma and her world that is both glamorous and melancholy. A true legend, nicknamed “the Callas of varieties”, she sang everything, or almost everything: from French songs to oriental rhythms, from disco hits to the most poignant ballads and forever marked musical history and history in general. The Octave and Anatole collective makes the bold bet of an unprecedented encounter between Dalida and jazz, by offering this septet tribute, carried by the voice of Gabrielle Sandman and with arrangements signed by the talented musician and drummer David Paycha. In an ambitious rereading, these musicians reinterpret his repertoire, from great classics to little-known treasures… The Octave et Anatole collective was born more than ten years ago, from a meeting between two guitarists keen on Django Reinhardt. It has grown over time, according to the musical and human encounters encountered on the road to swing. Today, it performs very regularly on the Parisian jazz scene and has around twenty talented musicians, keen to bring a new aesthetic, and to open up to other styles, such as that of French song or music traditional.
