From April 3 to 6, 2025, a charity gala will take place in Dakar, with a symbolic match between the Senegal and teams, reliving the iconic 2002 meeting.

The event, organized by former Senegalese internationals such as Gorgui Sy Dieng and Babacar Guèye, as well as ex-French international Frank Sylvestre, will be held at the Léopold Sédar Senghor stadium, which is currently being renovated and should be ready in March . The main match, scheduled for April 5 at 4 p.m., will pit a selection of former Senegalese players, including those of the famous Generation 2002, against a team of ” friends of Zidane and Ronaldinho« .

A tribute will be paid to Pape Bouba Diop, hero of the 2002 match, who died in 2020, with a symbolic kick-off given by his son, Aaron Diop, according to the player The Observer. The gala, beyond the match, aims to raise funds for two local associations, Empire of Children and Village of Kings, which help young people in vulnerable situations. The program also includes visits to the island of Gorée and the House of Slaves.
