Moroccan Sahara. Cemac supports Morocco

This position was expressed by Evariste Ngamana during his meetings with the President of the House of Advisors, Mohamed Ould Errachid, indicates a press release from the Chamber, affirming that the President of the CEMAC Parliament welcomed, on this occasion, the vision of King Mohammed VI “to achieve unity, solidarity and African integration”.

This meeting was an opportunity for both parties to examine the different aspects of the cooperation established between Morocco and CEMAC, in addition to regional and continental issues of common interest.

In this wake, the two parties highlighted the depth of Moroccan-African ties and bilateral and multi-party relations between the Kingdom and CEMAC, noting that this visit opens promising horizons for strengthening cooperation in order to serve the interests of the parties and the aspirations of their peoples for greater common progress and greater solidarity within the framework of win-win partnership and South-South cooperation.

The challenges facing the African continent require, more than ever, the strengthening of cooperation, the intensification of efforts and the implementation of collective approaches promoting solidarity and mutual support, underlines the press release.

In this sense, the President of the House of Advisors emphasized the importance of economic diplomacy and taking advantage of the opportunities offered to both parties with a view to promoting bilateral relations, highlighting the distinguished economic presence and the investments of the Kingdom on the African continent, including in the countries of the Community, the aim being “to increase trade, to support economic integration and regional integration, to accelerate financial and monetary cooperation and to give new impetus to links in other areas vital sectors, notably renewable energies and maritime fishing”.

Referring to the efforts deployed at the regional and continental levels, Ould Errachid underlined the Kingdom’s active commitment to initiatives supporting African integration, the creation of an African free trade area and the achievement of the objectives of the Agenda. 2063 as strategic objectives for a prosperous continent, particularly welcoming the Royal initiatives linked to the countries of Atlantic Africa and facilitating the access of the Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean, in addition to the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline project.

Ould Errachid expressed the willingness of the House of Advisors to support the dynamic of fruitful relations between Morocco and the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa, in particular through all parliamentary initiatives capable of promoting dialogue and mutual understanding between peoples.

It is also about establishing mechanisms to strengthen consultation, the exchange of experiences and good practices, as well as the coordination of positions and cooperation within international parliamentary institutions, including those uniting Morocco with the countries in Latin America and Africa, he continued.

During this meeting, the President of the House of Advisors welcomed the “noble and fraternal” position of the CEMAC member countries, in support of the Moroccan character of the Sahara, stressing that this constant position aligns with the growing international support to the territorial integrity of the Kingdom. This position effectively reflects the support of the majority of African countries and the international community for the vision of the Kingdom, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, regarding the question of the Moroccan Sahara.
