A couple was arrested for repeated thefts of money from a church in Grau-du-Roi in Gard.

A couple with no criminal record was arrested by the gendarmes of Gard as part of an investigation into thefts committed in a church in Grau-du-Roi. These two people, aged 56 and 52 and living in Sorgues, near Avignon in Vaucluse, allegedly stole the money from donations for several months.
According to information from Free Middayinvestigators discovered that the duo used pliers to steal coins and notes through the slot in the donation box. This method allowed the suspects to steal several thousand euros, causing heavy damage to the parish.
-Arrested this week, they were placed in police custody to be questioned about the facts. Their trial will take place within the framework of a criminal order, a procedure which allows simple cases to be judged quickly.
