On January 7, 2025, three rescuers including a nurse from the Civil Protection of Deux-Sèvres left for Mayotte with a detachment of 47 other volunteers from the association, coming from other regions. This deployment follows the dramatic consequences of Cyclone Chido, which hit Mayotte on December 14, 2024.

Sanitary raids and clearance

This detachment takes over from around fifty Civil Protection volunteers already deployed on the island for several weeks. Based in Longoni, they participate in different missions for two weeks: health patrols, clearing roads and congested areas or distribution of drinking water, organized in collaboration with the mayors of Tsingoni and Koungou.

The Civil Protection of Deux-Sèvres has 260 volunteers engaged in rescue missions, supporting populations and providing first aid training.
