A terrible fire caused the death of a woman and her two dogs this Monday, January 20, in Saint-Servais (Côtes-d'Armor), south of Guingamp.

“We were called around four o'clock in the morning by a neighbor,” informs one of the firefighters deployed this Monday, January 20, rue Hent-Choat in Saint-Servais (Côtes-d'Armor).

Despite their intervention, the flames had already ravaged the house, leading to the death of a 75-year-old woman and her two dogs.

Fire outbreak still unknown

Firefighters from Saint-Nicolas-du-Pélem and Callac were sent to the scene throughout the night, under the orders of the group leader from Belle-Isle-en-Terre.

By 11 a.m., the fire was completely contained. Two firefighters from the Saint-Nicolas-du-Pélem barracks were still on site, to keep the scene under surveillance. They had to stay there all day, to prevent the fire from resuming.

“For the moment, we do not know what caused the fire to start,” said one of the firefighters still on site.

An investigation should help determine the causes of the fire.
