On January 24 and 25, the New York collective will present “Puerto Rican Culture Party”, a major 2-day event that will celebrate the heritage of Afro-Puerto Rican traditions in a mix of hip-hop, jazz, dub and funk.
As leader, DJ and composer Gio Escobar will accompany several DJ sets and lives as well as listening sessions. On February 6 and 7, the Speakers Corner Quartet will perform songs by composer Arthur Russell, American pioneer on the border between disco, folk and classical.
The evening will continue on February 7 from 9 p.m. in the basement at the Foyer, with a club evening dedicated to the heritage of the Paradise Garage. The DJ sets will pay homage to the legendary New York club that became the cradle of “garage” music in the 80s, mixing house, disco, soul and gospel. All on a homemade soundsystem by Mathéo Garcia.
