Fomba, N'Guessan: Horneland justifies his choices

In a post-match press conference, the coach of AS Saint-Étienne, Eirik Hornelandreturned to his choices made against the Club de this Sunday for the 18th day of Ligue 1 (1-1).

As we mentioned before the meeting, Eirik Horneland was deprived of several elements yesterday afternoon: Ibrahim Wadji, Thomas Monconduit, Yvann Maçon, Ibrahim Sissoko or even Pierre Ekwahabsent at the last minute, announced ill by the club.

As a result, the Saint-Etienne coach had to innovate for his starting lineup. It is Laminate Form who numerically replaced Pierre Ekwah in midfield for this meeting against FC Nantes while the second surprise was offensively on the side of AS Saint-Étienne with the first start in Ligue 1 for the young attacker, Djylian N'Guessan.

In the post-match press conference, Eirik Horneland explained his choices, evoking the good week of his two players in training: “Fomba has been very good in training, with a big physical presence lately. I think it was time for him to start. His physical presence is developing little by little, he really had a good week. It's really deserved that he can start and I think that when you see his performance, it's not illogical. I'm quite happy that he managed to produce this performance. (…) N'Guessan was very good in training as well. I really had no doubts when I started him today. He has an interesting quality of play. It's really lucky for us to have these kinds of young players with us, both of them earned their place by being good in training.
