A family tragedy took place in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, this Sunday, January 19, in Amapa city, in the Vampires district. A 21-year-old young man, while handling a 9mm caliber automatic pistol, accidentally shot his 17-year-old nephew, fatally hitting him in the head.

The tragedy occurred around 7 p.m. According to the first elements, the weapon, handled by the uncle, was pointed in the direction of the teenager when the shot went off. Quickly alerted, firefighters and SAMU intervened on site to try to save the victim. Despite their efforts, the young man succumbed to his injuries, his death was declared around 8:25 p.m.
