This week, the criminal court sentenced Michel (not his real name) to two years in prison and a fine of 800 euros, with a three-year probationary suspension.

Michel was prosecuted for having beaten his partner’s two children, and for having deprived them of care and food. During the investigation, he did not contest the accusations, declaring that he had been overwhelmed by the events because his partner was not doing anything in the house. During his trial, he challenged the prevention of beatings.
