The first name that Roberto De Zerbi puts on the match sheet in each Olympique de Marseille match is that of Mason Greenwood. The English winger has always given satisfaction on the pitch since his signing, to the point of being cited among the contenders for the title of best player of the season in Ligue 1 in May if he continues his momentum. A bet therefore paid off for OM, who paid 30 million euros to bring him in, and will only receive half the amount on a possible resale, under an agreement signed by Manchester United. But for the moment, all of Marseille is benefiting from the Englishman's left leg, which was not necessarily plan A last summer.
Greenwood actually shared this first choice with a certain Francisco Conceição. Seen very strong during Euro 2024, the Portuguese international left FC Porto this summer. OM followed him very closely and hesitated until the end. Finally, the son of Sergio Conceição joined Juventus on a loan paying between 7 and 10 million euros, and with an agreement in principle for his definitive transfer for a total amount of 30 ME if this season goes well.
