The National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (Anacim) is warning of a wave of persistent cold weather which continues to affect several regions of Senegal. The night of Saturday January 18 to Sunday January 19, 2025 was particularly cold, with a record recorded in Podor, where temperatures fell to 10°C, a rare phenomenon in this locality.
Similar forecasts for the night from Sunday to Monday
According to Anacim forecasts, temperatures will remain low this Sunday evening and Monday night:
• Podor: 11°C
• Dakar, Thiès, Mbour, Louga, Linguère, Saint-Louis: 15°C to 19°C
• Fatick, Kaolack, Kaffrine, Matam, Tambacounda: 18°C to 20°C
• Ziguinchor, Sédhiou, Kolda, Kédougou : 20°C
These temperatures, well below the usual averages in certain areas, remind us of the importance of taking precautions to face this cold, particularly for the most vulnerable, such as children and the elderly.
A different feeling depending on the location
While residents of the north experience temperatures close to 10°C, southern regions like Ziguinchor or Kolda remain relatively milder, with minimums around 20°C. However, this unusual cold spell is felt across the country.
