Senegal: A new development in the Tabaski Ngom Affair

The Tabaski Ngom affair, now famous for its financial and political implications, is far from knowing its outcome. The legal twists and turns multiply, suggesting a complex investigation with profound ramifications.

A network being dismantled

Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC), in charge of the case, recently questioned a lady named Mame D. Ndao, younger sister of Colonel Ndao. According to sources cited by Dakarposte and Exclusif, the latter revealed crucial information by denouncing another person, Ms. Gningue, employed at the Diamniadio urban center.

These revelations add to the case of Tabaski Ngom, Treasury inspector, already facing serious accusations. Currently in prolonged police custody, she will be referred to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Financial Judicial Unit (PJF) at the beginning of next week, with potential charges of money laundering and fraud on public funds, according to L’Observateur.

Mor Guèye’s accusations

The case took a new turn with the arrest of Mor Guèye, owner of the companies Sen Setal and Web Sen, by the Saly Portudal Research Brigade. The man, accused by Tabaski Ngom, returned the accusations by declaring that she had given him checks for 681 million FCFA, not for official deposits, but for his personal businesses.

Worse still, Mor Guèye claims that part of this sum, i.e. 243 million FCFA, was to be allocated to the deputy mayor of Louga, Moustapha Diop, to finance his campaign during the 2024 legislative elections.

An investigation hampered by parliamentary immunity

Financial prosecutor El Hadji Alioune Abdoulaye Sylla ordered that all those involved in this matter be heard. However, Moustapha Diop, cited in the file, benefits from his parliamentary immunity, which complicates the investigation.
