In 2025, a new association will now be responsible for providing family mediation services within the Maison des services publics (MSP) of Val d'Europe, located in Chessy (Seine-et-). This is CERAF Médiation.

Among the many services offered by the MSP, family mediation represents a significant part, almost 22% in 2023, almost on par with issues related to housing (23%).

For what ?

What can it be used for? “Family mediation responds to many situations,” explains the agglomeration. It may beconflicts or difficulties in dialogue in the couplebetween parents and their child(ren)to calm the situation during a separationto help the parties to assert their rightslike the visiting rightsthe management of the sharing of goods during a succession… “the idea is to enable us to find solutions together”, summarizes the House of Public Services.

The advantage of mediation is that it offers a neutral and impartial third party and held by the confidentiality exchanges, trained in listening and negotiation while mastering the rights and duties of each person. By working to find a fair solution for allto resolve conflicts or to renew dialogue, family mediation allows above all maintaining links.

“Holding mediation can also simplify the work of the court when going before the judge,” notes the MSP.

For whom?

Who is mediation for? There are two ways to use family mediation. Either voluntarilyeither in a more constrained way. Indeed, family mediation can be imposed by a judge. This is also the most common case. “It’s normal, these are delicate situations, which affect the private sphere. Confiding in someone outside is not easy or common. However, it is very beneficial,” explains the House of Public Services.

Furthermore, if the activity of the hotline seemed to decline slightly in 2023, it is because the previous year had been particularly intense: “There was, not surprisingly, a significant increase in consultations after confinement linked to Covid”.

Comment ?

How do these hours take place? By appointment, the mediator dedicated to these interviews receives families. The first interview is free. But if long-term support is necessary, pricing will be determined according to the quotient familial of the family. This price can even be different for each party.

However, it is common for several appointments to be necessary. On average, four to five, but the duration varies greatly depending on the situation.

MSP: 27 place d’Ariane, Chessy. The office is open every first Wednesday of the month, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Contact: 01 78 71 40 95 or [email protected]
