A tribute paid to an Sdis agent who died on Friday

During the ceremony, tribute was also paid to Florence Potot Demay, Sdis agent from Côte-d'Or, who died Friday morning. “Age 52, she has devoted almost her entire career to serving Sdis since 2001 where she was first responsible for the human resources department, then deputy to the head of the HR group, and finally responsible for legal affairs », He was reminded, before a minute of applause.

Significant interventions

Certain interventions mark the firefighters a little more than others. This is the case with childbirth. And in 2024 the Issois firefighters had several interventions of this type to carry out. Lieutenant Julien Sallot, firefighter for 20 years, will remember it. In fact, he participated in two home births this year although “I had never had to do this type of intervention in my 20 years of career. During the first delivery, I admit that I almost had a tear in my eye. We don't experience this every day. Often, we intervene to save lives, but here we allow life to be given,” he testifies.

One of his colleagues, chief sergeant Romain Derepas, who is also in charge of the young firefighters at the station, gave birth for the third time in 2023. “It’s a memory that remains. After an intervention like this, we feel very strong, we feel great pride. But in the moment we switch off our brains to act as we have been taught. And when the baby cries, we plug it back in. It’s a positive side of our commitment and we keep in touch with the children’s families.”
