A large ceremony was organized in the public square of Fadiouth to pay tribute to Emmanuel Sobel Diouf, followed by a mass before taking him to his final resting place. Previously, moving testimonies were given to the deceased.
In the pure tradition of the maternal lines, Simala and Yokaam, he was reminded of the role he played in the establishment of a High Council of maternal lines. This structure has finished showing the dimension of man in the life of family relationships and the different lineages of the inhabitants of Fadiouth.
On his political past, he was deputy mayor of Joal-Fadiouth from 1972 to 1989 and played a key role in the urbanization and expansion of the commune of Joal-Fadiouth.
Pierre Thérèse Diouf, on behalf of his socialist political family, highlighted the values and qualities of man shared by all his comrades. According to Madame Aissatou Sophie Gladima, the mayor of the commune, the late Emmanuel Sobel Diouf is without equal , a truthful and principled man, someone who loved his tradition very much.
Women paid tribute to him with songs and rhythms from the land he loved so much. He has many notable achievements to his credit, such as the preservation of heritage and the environment. In addition, he had convinced the merchants to pay the municipal tax and to accept subdivisions for the extension of the municipality.
-He can also be cited as the father of decentralized cooperation in Joal-Fadiouth because he laid the foundations for the commune’s first twinnings with German and Spanish towns.
Ibrahima Sarr, a former minister of budget but also of energy, present at the ceremony, wanted to give testimonies on Emmanuel Sobel Diouf whom he sees as a symbol for the Republic of Senegal and a great servant of the State whom he knew through his brother.
