This traditional festival always attracts a lot of people from Cormier (Eure), near Pacy-sur-Eure, and the surrounding area. The 2025 meeting is scheduled for this Saturday January 18.

An enclosure to accommodate Christmas trees is installed in front of the town hall, on what the Cormiérais affectionately call 'the wasteland'. Residents can leave their old fir trees there, most of which are purchased at La Ferme aux sapins in the hamlet of Martainville in Cormier. Two weeks after the New Year, these fir trees stir up a big blaze. It’s an opportunity to share a friendly moment around a mulled wine to celebrate the New Year.

In 2024, the festival attracted a large audience. The Memory and Heritage association does not just organize this flagship event. “Throughout the year, it offers numerous activities that punctuate village life,” says Jean Barbier the president of the association. Picturesque hikes, an all-purpose fair or even fun dictations at the municipal library are all opportunities for the people of Cormiérais to come together, from the town and the seven surrounding hamlets: La Houssaye, le -Brac, Martainville, le Buisson-Sagout , Longue Haie, Brosse and Bois-Millon.

Fifteen dynamic members are involved in the association to strengthen the precious social bond.
