At a time when certain municipalities in La Manche and have given up organizing greeting ceremonies to save money, the municipality of La Haye-Pesnel, in the south of La Manche, has decided to maintain the tradition, despite the difficulties which he has faced for several months.

During the municipality's wishes to the population, Wednesday January 8, 2025, in the halls of honor of the town hall, Alain Navarret first returned to the highlights of the year 2024, completed with the control of the Regional Court accounts of Normandy.

The oral report given to the Director General of Services and myself at the end of December was rather reassuring. I should a priori be able to avoid the administrative court since a single fault, in the midst of opinions and mentions, should be ruled in the report. I won't say more for the moment.

Creation of a heating network

Also the municipality will not be able to undertake major work in 2025. The major project will be that of the creation of an urban heat network by the Manche Energy Union, approved by the municipal council on Monday December 30. A works commission will meet soon to study the work required in several municipal buildings, and to look into the roads, “neglected in recent years” and the lighting of the Lanos-Dior stadium.

Frustrated with little investment

“Our La Haye-Pesnel 2025 mandate project is likely to remain on the shelf for a little longer,” continues the mayor. I tell you my frustration and that of the municipal team at not being able to invest almost anything. The development of the town hall square, estimated at €500,000, is not reasonably possible in current conditions. Making the town one-way remains possible at little cost. But it will also be the reflection of the new municipal team elected in 2026.”

Projects with Granville Terre et Mer

It will therefore be necessary to turn to the Granville Terre et Mer community of communes to carry out a large-scale project in La Haye-Pesnel with the start this summer of work to extend and modernize the gymnasium. The EPCI will also be at the helm of other large-scale projects which will see the light of day in future years in the Hayland city: socio-cultural center at the fairground for an opening by 2029, new gendarmerie in the artisanal zone.
