SIn the dock of the Mont-de-Marsan judicial court, this Friday, January 17, two of the three individuals tried for having stolen two dump trucks from the town of Morcenx-la-Nouvelle are making no secret. They openly acknowledge the facts. Only the youngest of the three, aged 28, denies it. However, all three, residents of Saint-Jean-d'Illac (in ), were sentenced to prison terms by the court.

The first, aged 36, already convicted by the Criminal Court on January 26, 2021 for identical or similar facts, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment with continued detention. The second, also already convicted for identical or similar acts, but by the criminal court on January 12, 2021, was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment, with continued detention. Finally, the youngest of the three was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment, still with continued detention.

A Peugeot 208

The facts date back to November 3, 2024. That evening, a Peugeot 208 vehicle parked in the middle of the street, near the municipal warehouses of Morcenx-la-Nouvelle. The first investigations into video surveillance made it possible to identify four individuals. One of them moves the vehicle while the three others break into the warehouse, in order to steal the two poly dump trucks, valued at 116,000 euros together.

The connection data extracted from the Peugeot 208 makes it possible to highlight a phase of identifying individuals, who would have already presented themselves the day before at the same place.

After the theft, the two poly dump trucks would have been quickly dismantled, in order to facilitate their resale in the form of spare parts. On this specific point, one of the condemned denies his responsibility. “We acted to settle a debt to people who have a games room in Bordeaux. » For “fear of reprisals”, the condemned person remains evasive when he mentions these people. According to him, the trucks were sent “to Portugal” by these same individuals.

Suspicious transfer

A version which does not convince the prosecutor. “There are several elements in the file which contradict Sir. There is this famous transfer which necessarily raises questions. There are also telephone interceptions between the two defendants, which show numerous discussions about the purchase and resale of truck parts, even though neither of them ever said they carried out this activity. They always indicated that they were scrap dealers or pruners. »

In her indictment, the public prosecutor requested three years of imprisonment for the three defendants, as well as, as an additional penalty, a ban on appearing in the Landes department for a period of three years. On this last point, the court finally reduced the duration of the ban to two years. As for the hearing on civil interests, it was postponed until June 2, 2025.
