-Motorists could soon know where to find parking without going in circles in the streets of Yverdon. Responding to a request from environmentalist municipal councilors Sophie Mayor and Loann Gaillard, the City announces that it intends to set up a system for counting available places. The latter will apply to 11 public parking areas with more than 40 spaces.
The information will be transmitted to drivers by means of LED display panels which will be placed at the five main entrances to the city and, obviously, in front of the car parks concerned.
Financially, the entire project should amount to 1.15 million francs. As for the annual operating costs, they are estimated at 147,000 francs.
In the canton, several localities including Vevey, La Tour-de-Peilz, Montreux and Blonay already benefit from such a counting system, while the question arises in Morges and Lausanne.
