The total value of the West African Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM) reached 20.6 trillion CFA francs ($32 billion) in 2024, a record level, driven by investor interest, declared its general director to the press on Thursday.
“Investor appetite supported the stock market in 2024,” said Edoh Kossi Amenounve, noting that the total was up from 18.3 billion CFA francs in 2023.
The value of transactions reached 462 billion CFA francs in 2024, compared to 396 billion CFA francs the previous year, while the overall BRVM composite index increased by 28.9% year-on-year to reach 276.02 points.
Beninese bank Banque Internationale pour l’Industrie et le Commerce is expected to be listed on the stock exchange in April following its IPO, Ms. Amenounve said.
-The Abidjan stock exchange currently has 47 listed companies, including Senegalese telecoms Sonatel, Ivorian Orange, Burkinabe Onatel and Ivorian creditor Société Générale Côte d’Ivoire.
Several countries and companies also have bonds listed on the stock exchange.
