BASEBALL. Kyanna Faucher, 16 years old from Tring-Jonction, is one of 43 players selected by Baseball Canada to be part of the women’s national team’s winter meetings. The names of the participants were revealed last December.
Briefly, winter meetings are virtual meetings that are held throughout the cold season. They will allow the pitcher and shortstop player (between second and third base) to learn different tips about physical strength, mental performance, sleep, etc.
“I think it will make me learn more about what a baseball athlete is. I can’t wait to start the meetings, because it’s the beginning of a dream,” she said,
In her opinion, if she earned a place at these meetings, it is thanks to all her performances last summer. “I was the best hitter with six home runs, 16 RBIs, and a .571 average at the Canadian Championships with the under-16s. Also, I pitched a complete game without a run or a hit, to allow my team to win the bronze medal at the Canadian Championships with the 17 and over team,” she summarized.
At this time, Beauceronne is in secondary 4 in sports studies (baseball!) at Veilleux secondary school in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce. It is part of the Canada East 17 and over League. For the next season, his main objective will be to improve on all fronts: choosing and varying his throws, better determining the best time to hit the ball, covering more ground, etc. In addition, she cherishes the ambition of being part of Team Canada in the near future.
