The Joint Commission between the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic was held in Paris, as part of the continuous and varied efforts deployed by the two countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation in criminal matters in order to combat serious and various crimes. The two parties discussed the best practices adopted by each of them as well as legal developments and institutional mechanisms to be put in place to strengthen criminal justice.
The two sides also discussed increasing the level of bilateral cooperation in the criminal field by reviewing the statistics kept by each side, presenting the problems recorded when handling requests for bilateral cooperation in the criminal field and agreeing how to overcome them by strengthening the role of liaison judges accredited in both countries and opening direct communication channels, and considering the possibility of revising the bilateral framework by optimizing its content.
The Moroccan delegation was led by Hicham Malati, director of criminal affairs, pardons and crime monitoring, and included other officials from the Ministry of Justice and the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
During the meeting, the two parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening legal and judicial cooperation by working to develop its mechanisms in order to contribute to the achievement of criminal justice and the strengthening of the rule of law.
