Opposed to Bourgoin-Jallieu this Wednesday evening with OL (6 p.m.), Pierre Sage will experience a match made special by the presence of many faces known in the amateur world who will be in the opposite camp. Berjallien coach Freddy Morel and captain Jimmy Nirlo are among them, like Nicolas Seguin and Sofiane Atik, known at Lyon-La Duchère.
It will certainly not be a match like any other for Pierre Sage. Inevitably, for a few minutes no doubt, his previous life will resurface, when playing against a National 3 team full of faces well known to those who played around in amateur Football before moving up the ranks and finishing on the OL bench. Facing Bourgoin-Jallieu, Sage will once again cross paths with Freddy Morel, the opposing coach, to whom he passed the state coaching diploma when he was a trainer in the Rhône-Alpes Football League. “His team is very representative of what Freddy Morel is. It is well organized with an ability to hurt when it recovers the ball but also to register effectively in placed attacks thanks to three offensive players who arrive at very combine well together,” Sage noted.
Morel: “Today, he has a player potential which is much greater than mine”
During his time at Lyon-La Duchère in 2018-2019 as assistant coach with Karim Mokeddem, Sage also crossed paths with Nicolas Seguin, trained at OL, and Sofiane Atik, now players at Bourgoin-Jallieu and who have only kept good memories of the current coach of the Rhone club. “One thing that stood out to me was the games he played in training. Seeing his sessions, you understood what he wanted us to do on the weekend: build, unbalance through passing, by traveling These are things that the big teams did and we managed it in National”, recalled the second for our colleagues at So Foot.
Before this expected Reunion, Freddy Morel, coach of Bourgoin-Jallieu, considered that, from the kick-off, he like Sage will no longer have much of an impact. “Afterwards, it is the players who will decide the fate of the match.
