The media cites estimates established by investment banks Wells Fargo et Goldman Sachs which exceed the threshold of 20 billion dollars established last week by JPMorgan Chase.
In a speech on Monday, the American president Joe Biden indicated that “tens of billions of dollars” will be needed for reconstruction in Los Angeles after the serious damage caused by these fires which left at least 24 dead.
Entire neighborhoods of the metropolis of 3.8 million inhabitants have been devoured by the fires which have raged since last Tuesday, while the authorities indicated that more than 12,300 buildings were destroyed or damaged. In total, the blazes affecting areas in the north, east and west of Los Angeles have destroyed an estimated area of 156 km².
According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL Fire), the fireEaton (east of Los Angeles) is 27% contained, while that of Palisades (west) is controlled at 13%. The fire of Hurst (north) is 89% contained, while the other fires are entirely under control.
