the essential
The Young Farmers and the FDSEA of Gers presented their joint list this Tuesday, January 14 in Nougaroulet. Led by Xavier Duffau, the unions defend their results and announce their plans for the next six years, while online voting opens on January 15.
After hitting the pavement at the end of last year, the Young Farmers and the FDSEA of Gers have received, over the last few weeks, several national representatives to discuss the issues for agriculture but also the union elections of this month of January. And it was in the presence of Pierrick Horel, national president of the JA, and Sébastien Windsor, president of the chambers of agriculture, that they officially announced the list of their candidates for the Gers consular chamber during an afternoon exchanges this Tuesday, January 14 in Nougaroulet, on the eve of the opening of online voting.
“It is a common list made up of men and women from all territories, from all productions, each with their own expertise and skills to be as close as possible to each file,” indicates Xavier Duffau, head of the list. “These are people who have been involved for several years, able to talk about issues,” confirms Benjamin Constant, number 2. If several candidates on this rejuvenated list were already part of the last term, many others are presenting themselves for the first time. “The dynamics of young people linked to the wisdom of the oldest provide stability which constitutes a benchmark for farmers”, assures Pierrick Horel.
Profitability, attractiveness, innovation, freedom to undertake
After having drawn up the broad outlines of the actions of the last mandate, including the completed Auch slaughterhouse project, the candidates presented, in front of nearly 70 JA and FDSEA members, the strong axes that they will defend if they are elected to the Chamber of Agriculture. Starting with “profitability on our farms and pride in doing this job,” assures Benjamin Constant. We want to defend our profession as farmers, our freedom to undertake with men and women who get up every morning to produce and feed the population.

The attractiveness of the profession and transmission are also at the heart of the demands made by this list, which wants to welcome and support project leaders, anticipate the departure of transferors to prepare transfers and make people want to do this profession. Finally, JA and FDSEA want to put innovation back at the heart of farms by “finding local experimentation adapted to the territory, by developing renewable energy projects where production is the first objective and by increasing the creation of water resources” .

Actions in continuation of what has been done over the last six years, “with the development of a new project, of course”, concludes Xavier Duffau. “There are things to change, to develop, but we have to know how to build on what we have done. This must allow members to go and vote.”
