No, it's not an anecdote, and the story is not new. Recovered plastic caps are recycled into trash.

But the gesture also helps finance a wheelchair, or other equipment for people with disabilities. Acquisitions that are generally very expensive, for which public aid is not always sufficient. The operation is not trivial. The Tous Ensemble pour Ophélie & Co association understood this well a few years ago.

Ophélie answered questions from young students

And the adventure continues today, since the association, through its collections, is still very active. “At the Jura level, it helped concretely in 2024, with the financing of a bicycle, an armchair and a joëlette,” explains Valérie Tomzyck, representative of the association. She was present this Monday, at the Aristide Briand college, with her daughter Ophélie who travels with an electric wheelchair. Both took part in the game of questions with the young students present this Monday. Especially since Ophélie had come with Izmir, her assistance dog, an adorable Golden Retriever, who helps her with everyday activities. This also lent itself to some demonstrations under the watchful and surprised eye of the children.

The college plans other deliveries

There is no age to carry out a civic and solidarity act. Once again, the principal education advisor, David Agustin, was in charge of raising children's awareness. Obviously, the action of the association, whose headquarters is in , does not stop only at collection. Because then, you have to sort the corks and take them to a specific recycling center. And this is done under the cover of a team of fully committed volunteers.

In the meantime, as Valérie Tomzyck reminded the children: “It is not so much the quantity at your level, and at your age, that is important, it is the gesture, the act itself”. Especially since for some time caps have been attached to bottles and other plastic containers. They have to be pulled out, so the process is significantly amplified.
