Kaffrine, January 14 (APS) – The representative of the regional health director of Kaffrine (center), Ibrahima Diallo, wants more involvement of men in family planning to reduce maternal deaths.
“The major challenge today, to reduce maternal deaths, is the involvement of men in family planning,” he declared.
He was speaking during a meeting on the dissemination of the Strategic Plan for maternal, neonatal and child reproductive health, adolescents, youth and nutrition 2024-2028 and the budgeted National Action Plan for family planning 2024-2028.
“The challenges are multiple, but when it comes to family planning, we are in a region that is very specific, because, most of the time, women ask permission from their husbands who often refuse,” noted Ibrahima Diallo.
According to the representative of the regional health director of Kaffrine, another challenge linked to the problem of family planning in this region concerns the retention of specialized personnel and the continuous availability of medicines and other inputs.
-This meeting was chaired by the deputy governor in charge of development, Lalla Camara, in the presence of administrative authorities from the departments of Malem-Hodar, Birkilane and Kaffrine.
