Nouakchott, January 13 (APS) – Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko promised Senegalese living in Mauritania on Monday in Nouakchott to bring “strong improvements” to the conditions in which they live in this country, failing to do so. permanently resolved.
“There will be significant improvements, in the absence of a definitive resolution of the problems raised here. But you have to help us do that,” declared Mr. Sonko during a meeting with hundreds of Senegalese nationals at the Palais des Congrès in Nouakchott.
“The Mauritanian authorities promised us to facilitate access to the residence permit,” declared Ousmane Sonko, after his compatriots informed him of numerous grievances, including difficulties in accessing the residence permit issued by the Mauritania to foreigners.
“They (the Mauritanian authorities) will reduce the costs necessary to obtain it, if not making it free,” assured the Prime Minister.
The criteria required to have this sesame are extremely complex, and it is difficult to work and live in the country for foreigners who do not have it, leaders of associations of Senegalese nationals told the Prime Minister.
“Foreigners must be identified, as we do in Senegal,” Ousmane Sonko replied.
“In the weeks to come, you will see the results,” he assured them, speaking of the promise made to improve the conditions of stay and establishment of his compatriots in Mauritania.

According to the head of the Senegalese government, the Mauritanian president promised the Senegalese authorities to facilitate the stay and establishment of their compatriots in his country.
“I thank President El Ghazouani. He told Yassine Fall (the Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs), during a recent visit she made here, that the conditions of stay will be improved for the Senegalese,” he said. said.
Ousmane Sonko also recommends to all Senegalese living abroad, including those in Mauritania, “discipline and respect for the laws” of the countries in which they live.
“We are aware of all the demands presented here. We receive detailed reports from our ambassadors on the living conditions of Senegalese abroad. However, we have come to listen to you,” Mr. Sonko told his compatriots gathered at the Palais des Congrès in Nouakchott.
Ousmane Sonko arrived in Nouakchott on Sunday evening for a two-day official visit devoted to energy, transport, security and migration.
For this visit, also known as friendship and work, he is accompanied by several ministers, including Yassine Fall, in charge of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, and Jean Baptiste Tine, that of the Interior and Public Security.
Birame Souleye Diop, the Minister of Energy, Oil and Mines, Yankhoba Diémé, the Minister of Infrastructure, Land and Air Transport, and Fatou Diouf, the Minister of Fisheries, Maritime and Port Infrastructure, are taking part.
The delegation led by Ousmane Sonko also includes the directors general of the National Agency responsible for the promotion of investments and major works, Bakary Séga Bathily, and of the Société des Petroles du Senegal, Alioune Guèye.
