A second time in the space of less than a year, Kamel Brahmi was arrested on the sidelines of a CGT demonstration. And as last April, on the day of the inauguration of the Olympic aquatic center in Saint-Denis, his comrades and supporters denounced “a criminalization of union action”.
It was around 4 p.m. this Monday when the mobilization organized in front of the Livry-Gargan town hall, the scene at that time of a round table on the future of the Vauban clinic, degenerated. “The idea was to enter the town hall to participate in this meeting,” indicates Éric Alligner, the treasurer of the departmental union of the CGT of which Kamel Brahmi is the general secretary.
Since the closure of this health establishment in the summer of 2023, the union has carried out a project to resume activity in surgery, maternity and unscheduled consultations, all under the aegis of the regional hospital group bringing together the Robert-Ballanger hospitals in Aulnay-sous-Bois, André-Grégoire in Montreuil and that of Montfermeil.
According to the testimonies of Éric Alligner and his comrades, their general secretary was arrested while the demonstrators tried to enter the town hall. “The municipal police were blocking things, there was a bit of jostling,” he reports. Karim kept the doors open. One of the police officers then pulled him inside. I saw him being handcuffed through the bay window. Before that, he would have received a broom. »
Several dozen people then headed towards the Livry-Gargan police station, where Kamel Brahmi was expected to spend the night. “There would be a complaint from a police officer,” believes the treasurer of the departmental union of the CGT, who is calling for a rally at the same place this Tuesday at 9 a.m.

The seven deputies of France Insoumise in Seine-Saint-Denis followed suit by demanding “the immediate release of Kamel Brahmi”. “Once again, a union leader is repressed in our department,” they write. This is indeed an attempt to gag and intimidate all the voices that speak out against the breakdown of public services (…)”
