In difficulty for several months, the company's website Brittany Routing in Janzé (Ille-et-Vilaine) closes at the end of January 2025.
Specialized in carrying out campaigns marketing directparticularly in the area of enveloping, the company has 29 employees and was bought at the end of 2022 by the Paragon Group.
A market that collapsed
Two years ago, Paragon Western Europe (division of the group) announced that it wanted to “sustain and develop the know-how of Bretagne Routage” at the Janzé and Maure-de-Bretagne sites.
But it is clear that the mission turned out to be delicate.
The reason: a “collapse” of the market and therefore declining activity.
“Even before the acquisition by Paragon, the direct marketing activity was already suffering. In 2023 and 2024, we lost almost 40% of the volume while we had been on a structural decline of 5% for fifteen years,” analyzes Olivier Sittlergeneral manager of the direct marketing business line at Paragon Western Europe.
While a dynamic resumption of activity promised to be difficult for 2025, Paragon therefore decided on an operational reorganization in 2024.
“With 80 employees in Maure-de-Bretagne, it was no longer tenable to keep two activity sites 45 km apart while the one in Janzé is losing a lot of money. The regrouping was inevitable, otherwise we would involve the entire structure,” continues Olivier Sittler.
The Janzé activity will therefore be repatriated to the Maure-de-Bretagne site.
Reclassification solutions
Opened in 2009, the Janzé site will therefore close its doors at the end of the month. Concerning the 29 employees, the elected representatives of the CSE – there is no union representative on the Janzé site – were informed and consulted for the reclassification project.
“It has been 100% approved in terms of content and form” by the Regional Directorate of Economy, Employment, Labor and Solidarity (Dreets).
Proposals for reclassification have been presented. “We offered 22 positions to Maure-de-Bretagne. »
If these positions are accepted, measures are possible: bonus, relocation covered and service vehicle available.
“There has been a lot of work done on the social aspect to encourage this reclassification. We go up to 12 months of support,” indicates Olivier Sittler who specifies having discussed the matter with the mayor of Janzé, Hubert Paris.
At the time of publication of this article, it was not yet known how many employees would accept these positions. This information should be known at the beginning of February.
Some will therefore go to Maure-de-Bretagne. We also proposed around thirty additional positions within the Paragon Group or within its entities in the region or in France. There are therefore more positions offered than employees impacted.
What future for the industrial site?
Located in the Bois de Teillay activity zone, the industrial site de 5 000 m2 will not completely empty at the end of January.
Initially, 7 to 8 positions in tertiary activity will be kept on site. “They are completely part of the Bretagne Routage project,” concludes Olivier Sittler.
